Kahru is a society that is older than it is tempting to believe. Indeed, it was founded in Finland in 1916. Originally, it bore the name of Ab Sport Artiklar and its logo was a bear. During the first years of its existence, the brand has mainly produced sports equipment such as javelins or athletic records for example.
Faced with the ever more demanding needs of the customers at the time, the brand chose to diversify in 1920 by developing its first sneakers which immediately met with a huge success. Some athletes wore Kahru shoes at the Games Olympic Games of 1920 or 1924 and won several gold medals. In 1920, the brand decided to change its name to Kahru, which means Bear in Finnish.
The Karhu Group has constantly innovated to offer its customers ever more irreproachable articles, until becoming what it is today. Finally, for the little anecdote, Kahru invented the iconic three-strip logo of Adidas, which she sold in 1951 for the equivalent of 1600 euros and two bottles of whiskey.
